Description

Adding a purple solution of potassium permanganate to a colorless solution of sucrose in sodium hydroxide produces colors ranging from a dark blue to green to yellow as the manganese changes its oxidation state in the reducing matrix of the alkaline sugar.

Kit includes: Alkaline Sucrose Solution, 100 ml; Potassium Permanganate Solution, 20 ml; and Instructions.
