Description
A small amount of “water” is poured from a clear drinking cup into a wine glass and the wine glass fills with “red wine”. Before the demonstration, phenolphthalein indicator solution is placed in the stem of the plastic wine glass. The “water” is a dilute solution of sodium hydroxide. When the two chemicals react, the phenolphthalein turns from colorless to pink. The kit contains everything needed to perform the demonstration eight times.
